Sally returned to east Mostar to carry out her promise and once again her ambulance came under fire. The vehicle became stuck in a railway siding and Bosnian soldiers braved the sniper fire to help dig it out. She arrived at the hospital to find that five year old Damir had sadly not survived. His injuries were too severe and the doctors were unable to save him. Sally was able to evacuate Elmir and his baby sister Lela together with their mother and grandmother and an elderly couple in need of medical help. Upon their arrival at the UN base in Medjugorje that night, they were refused assistance but a team of Croat doctors from the hospital in West Mostar were able to help.
