When Selma and her family arrived in the States, both children spent several weeks in hospital undergoing extensive surgery. Selma went on to graduate from Pace University in New York City with a degree in psychology. In November 2009 Selma invited Sally to attend her wedding in New York. This would be their first meeting since the evacuation in 1993.
